This week began with a birthday party. My daughter turned 32 - yes, where has the time gone! There were 5 of us to celebrate. We ordered in Thai food - 5 different dishes with rice and shared. There was cake and bubbly and wine and presents. It was fun!!
I managed 3 walks to the Brickworks and back. My foot has heeled. I'm upping the weight of my backpack and I'm enjoying the sunny and warmish November weather. What's not to love!!
I started reading The Fair Botanists, a book my sister-in-law sent. It's set in Edinburgh, where she lives. Except it's about 200 years earlier. It's a delightful read. At a critical point, I had to put it down, I hate suspense. I then picked up one of my Camino books - The Way - My Way. It's hilarious, so, of course, I couldn't put it down until I had finished. I loved it!!
Mixed into the Joy was the day to day slog - which I try to make as joyful as I can. OK, there was Joy when I finished putting the roses to bed. I make a circle of leaves around their roots and blanket it with earth and manure. It was a bit of a chore for 12 bushes, but I got it done. There is always Joy in the completion of a task!!
I even managed a haircut this week, as well as starting to set up a new website just for my Camino posts. New tech adventures are never easy for me, but I'm working on it.
Always running in the background is the usual roster of cooking and cleaning, along with caring for an aging cat - 19 years and counting. The kids are a big help here. They give him lots of love. I give him lots of food - it's a thyroid thing. Finally, there is making time for my Covid shot, along with all the other appointments one has to make time for.
Still I am ever thankful that I have been given this time.
My Joy for the Joy Jar this week has to be my daughter's birthday. All my children are my special gifts!!
Have a Joyful week!!
