National Photograph Month

According to the site www.holidayinsights.com May is National Photograph month. I'm not sure why it isn't National Photography month, but I think that was last month. So I'm trying to think of how one might celebrate the month. Of course we could take pictures. Maybe we should go through older pictures and organize them. If you have stacks of pictures in print, you may want to scan them and then store them digitally.

Maybe you could spend the month creating slide shows of pictures on themes. All your "cat" pictures, for example, could be put to music in a nice presentation. I have a lot of pictures that I have taken for scavenger hunts that could be organized in some "meaningful" fashion. If you don't take a lot of pictures, you might want to take a picture a day for the month of May - look it even rhymes.

I struggle with certain aspects of photography, such as negative space. Maybe I could focus, no pun intended, on this aspect for the month. There are also pictures that I have always meant to take. Maybe it's one of a relative, an old building, a scene. This could be a May project.

Actually, I'm a little ahead of myself. I had always wanted to take a picture of this sign post. It's not at the top of Kilimanjaro. It's actually at the corner of Yonge and Berwick Streets - not a very auspicious location, but it does remind me of places that I would love to go one day, whenever I pass it. I really need to go back and take pictures of it from all angles. However because I am really shy, I always feel a little awkward doing this. Crazy Cat Lady is one thing, Crazy Camera Lady is quite another.

Maybe this could be my project for National Photograph Month!!

Have a picture perfect day!!

  1. Maybe they called it "National Photograph Month" because they wanted you to ask "Y"?

  2. My favourite sign was in a small village just outside Paris. In one direction it read "Toutes Directions" in the opposite direction it read "Autres Directions"...
