Lonely Flamingo |
So I took this picture of a little craziness in my corner of the world. I have never seen a real flamingo. The closest I have come to avian pink is a Rosaette Spoonbill in SC - awesome. I have written about pink plastic flamingos before - they breed - or at least spawn in the north.
A little unexpected perhaps.... but I needed more.....April Fool's Day was approaching.
I went back to this curiosity shop on Bayview Ave. called "The Elegant Garage Sale" and took this photo. They have another knight in not-so-shining armour on the other side - a matched set!!

Finally, we were walking by yesterday and I noticed that they had added another Flamingo to the one already there.

Have a colourful day!!
I love them. I've been thinking about inspiration today. What could I do with two pink plastic blow up flamingos and a couple of knights in shining armour?!
ReplyDeleteI love it! They probably figured if one flamingo caught your atttention two would be even better!
ReplyDeletePink plastic flamingoes proliferate in other locales as well. We had a spate of them in south Texas when I lived there. I have seen real ones in zoos and have seen Roseate Spoonbills in the wild. I think pink is one of the creators favorite jokes or best art work. Take your pick.
ReplyDeleteColorful post and fun, indeed. Hope you don't get "pranked" too badly.
ReplyDeleteLove it. We have flamingos on the lake here in Crystal Palace. What a fun post !
ReplyDeleteI don't know why pink flamingos in random areas are so funny, but they are. Your post made me smile. Happy UBC!
ReplyDeleteWhooops, I meant Happy Blogging!
ReplyDeleteHow fun. You should come to Dallas and visit the zoo. They have a Very large flamingo exhibit. I've got pictures of some no more than about 5 feet away. They really are pretty animals. Of course, yours are more entertaining.
ReplyDeleteI think I would love that store - what a fun spot! We would use the plastic pink flamingos for our school fundraisers. I have seen real ones in Florida - they are quite pretty!
ReplyDeleteWell, I started looking more closely at the shops in London and couldn't see any pink flamingos hanging out over here. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteI noticed that on this side of the pond, that Congress was out of session. They only want the amateurs to participate in Fool's Day.
