National Rubber Ducky Day

Hen and chickens from Fiber Trends
To-day is national Rubber Ducky Day. The link is actually to last year's listing - but things don't change much in the world of rubber ducks. I'm really not sure why we need a day to celebrate a bath toy - but it is a toy with staying power. Maybe in the depths of bitterly cold January we need a spot of yellow to lighten the mood.

Anyway, I don't have any patterns for knitted ducks. I have patterns for knitted felted chickens, which look a little like rubber ducks. I also have a pattern for mittens that look like ducks, would that help? Then, of course there is Lucy Neatby's duck sweater that I have posted before. But we're not talking rubber ducks here, we're talking mathematical ducks with a serious academic side to them.

There are sites that will customize rubber ducks for you. Put your logo on a few, that is. I'll bet that there is even a very large inflatable duck to be had some where, if you wanted to do a promotion or something.  How about 10 or 20% off everything in the store that is yellow.  Could you hide a few rubber ducks in your store and when they are found take a certain percentage off the finder's purchase?  Maybe you could even make this a "flash" event on Facebook.

There is also a popular song that goes with the duck.  It actually made it to #16 on the charts back in the 70's - you remember - "Rubber Ducky, you're the one.... ". Please post to my Facebook, if you happen to be somewhere there is a rubber duck "happening."

Dinner - nothing with wings or Foie Gras - and the best that I can think of is fried eggs - sunny side up.  I'll try to be a little more creative tomorrow. Oh and btw, I missed chocolate covered cherry day and I have a pattern from Heartstrings for socks and matching fingerless mittens for that day - next year!  Enjoy!
